Scholarships and Sponsorships Information
Department of Health Scholarships on Offer in Western Australia (WA)
There are a range of scholarships on offer in WA for those considering a career in nursing or midwifery. There are also a number of postgraduate scholarships offered to registered nurses and midwives who are currently working within the WA public health system.
The following scholarships are available :
Undergraduate Nursing/Midwifery Scholarships
Scholarships of up to $1500 are available to students who have successfully completed semesters one and two of the Bachelor of Science (Nursing) or Bachelor of Science (Midwifery) Degree or the equivalent for the Graduate Pathway Program and enrolled at a WA Tertiary Institution.
Undergraduate Nursing Scholarships (Honours)
Scholarships of up to $5000 are available to students who have successfully completed a Bachelor of Science (Nursing) and are undertaking a Bachelor of Nursing Honours program at a WA Tertiary Institution.
Enrolled Nurse to Registered Nurse Conversion Scholarships
Scholarships of up to $1500 are available to enrolled nurses who with recognition of prior learning are in semester three to seven of the Bachelor of Science (Nursing) at a WA Tertiary Institution.
Postgraduate Midwifery Scholarships
These scholarships are to assist registered nurses employed within the Western Australian public health system to undertake study in a Postgraduate Diploma of Midwifery. These scholarships are highly sought after and may vary in amount according to the number of successful applicants. Depending on the number of applicants, the Office will fund up to the maximum of 80% of the unit cost

IF YOUR COURSE ATTRACTS COMMONWEALTH SUPPORT, YOU ARE REQUIRED TO APPLY FOR THIS. THE OFFICE OF THE CHIEF NURSING OFFICER WILL ONLY COVER THE COST OF THE STUDENT CONTRIBUTION.
Postgraduate Specialisation Scholarships
These scholarships are to assist registered nurses and midwives employed within the Western Australian public health system to undertake specialisation courses at a postgraduate level to advance knowledge and skills in their chosen field. The course must be undertaken at a WA Tertiary Institution or recognised organisation. The value of these scholarships varies depending on the cost of the course and the number of successful applicants. The Office will fund up to the maximum of 80% of the unit cost

Indigenous Nursing Scholarships
These scholarships provide Indigenous nurses, midwives and nursing students with an opportunity to achieve their educational goals and in so doing encourage Indigenous nurses to enter/remain in the WA health workforce
Bali Nursing Fellowship
» Background to the Bali Nursing Fellowship and Past recipients
This Fellowship provides the opportunity for a nurse/s to undertake a study tour to examine new innovations, best practice or evidence based nursing in action with respect to disaster preparedness and management. This may include things such as departmental disaster planning or management of surge capacity.
The successful applicant will have planned a study tour to meet ongoing professional development needs. The tour may include both national and international nursing centres of excellence.
Up to $15,000 will be awarded to the successful applicant.
Midwifery Fellowship
» Background to the Midwifery Fellowship and Past recipients
This Fellowship provides the opportunity for midwives to complete a higher degree or to undertake clinical research in midwifery at Masters or Doctoral level with an emphasis on clinical research. Up to $15,000 will be awarded to the successful applicant.
Helen Bailey Scholarship
» Background to the Helen Bailey Award and Past recipients
This Scholarship is offered annually to assist nurses/midwives to undertake or complete nursing/midwifery research at Masters or Doctoral level at a Western Australia tertiary institution.
Up to $15,000 will be awarded to the successful applicant whose clinical research will have a positive outcome on clinical nursing in Western Australia.
