Scholarships Online Application

The Department of Health (DOH) recognises the importance of professional development in nursing & midwifery to maintain the high standards of our workforce. To gain further education, financial assistance is offered to individuals pursuing a nursing career and nurses/midwives working within the Western Australian public health industry.

The value of scholarships varies according to the cost of the course and the number of successful applicants.
Funds awarded are intended to assist:
- Undergraduates with the general cost of study or clinical placements
- Postgraduates with payment of course fees
A selection panel reviews all applications and the decision of the panel is final.
Funding is not retrospective and is only available for studies commencing in 2010 for one study year only; applicants who plan to study for the following year must reapply if further funding is sought.
Applicants may only apply for one DoH scholarship in each round of offers
Funding received from any other source must be stated in the application and may be taken into account in the assessment.
Applicants who do not complete the course by way of withdrawal or failure will be required to repay part or all of the scholarship funds awarded.

The Office of the Chief Nursing & Midwifery Office is to be notified in writing:

If enrolment details alter from the original application eg withdrawal, deferment, change in course, or change from full time to part time study.
If you do not complete the course or units of study for which you received funding eg due to withdrawal or failure.
Of results at the end of each semester and at the completion of the program/course.
Change of personal details e.g. name/address/phone/email.

NOTE: Scholarships are NOT intended to provide financial assistance for nurses/midwives or nurse practitioner to attend seminars, workshops or conferences.
